About this Role

Serac Group is a fast-growing, innovative company transforming planning, construction, and AI-driven technology. We’re seeking a placement student in full-stack development to support our next phase of growth and gain hands-on experience building real products used across the industry.

In this role, you’ll work in a collaborative scrum environment, developing high-performance applications that power our industry-leading products: Planda Portal, IBex, Serac Tech, and Rafter. You’ll build intuitive UI components, implement scalable backend logic, and bring user stories to life through well-defined APIs and data models. Regular code reviews will ensure quality and accelerate your growth within our team.

Must-have requirements:

💻 A passion for software development – You love building and problem-solving.

🟦 Experience with TypeScript and Node.js – Strong coding skills in modern JavaScript frameworks.

🗄 Strong understanding of SQL – Confident in working with databases and queries.

📦 Experience with containerisation – Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

🎓 Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, or Physics – A solid technical foundation.

Desirable requirements:

🗃 Understanding of NoSQL database technologies – Experience with databases like MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Firebase.

⚡ Understanding of the Agile Manifesto and practices – Comfortable working in an iterative, fast-paced environment.

☁️ Understanding of microservices and cloud infrastructure – Knowledge of scalable, distributed systems.

🐍 Python – Proficiency in writing clean, efficient Python code.

🚀 Experience within a startup environment – Adaptable, hands-on, and ready to take ownership.
