Getting a building approved, designed and built in the UK takes too long and costs too much. Most of the process still runs on PDFs, email chains and manual checks. We are replacing that with data and AI.

We started with planning. Since 2020 we have gone from a bootstrapped lead gen app to a suite of products used across the property world. IBex powers most of UK conveyancing with planning data. Planda uses AI to predict planning outcomes. Planda Portal launched in 2026 and went national in months. Half of planning applications are submitted invalid and we're the reason that number is falling.

Planning was step one. We are now building much more across the built environment, and the next product is yours to help shape. We are a team of more than 50, moving fast, and hiring.

About this Role

Serac Group is a fast-growing, innovative company transforming planning, construction, and AI-driven technology. We’re seeking a talented full-stack developer to help drive our next stage of growth.

In this role, you’ll work in a collaborative scrum environment, developing high-performance applications that power our industry-leading products. You’ll build intuitive UI components, implement scalable backend logic, and bring user stories to life through well-defined APIs and data models. Regular code reviews will ensure quality and accelerate your growth within our team.

Must-have requirements:

• A passion for software development: You love building things and you finish them.

• Be curious, ask questions: A proactive mindset to learn and grow.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js: Strong coding skills in modern JavaScript frameworks.

• Quality and architecture: Writing code is the easy part now. You test what you build, catch what breaks and design systems that last.

• Strong understanding of SQL: Confident in working with databases and queries.

• Experience with containerisation: Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Degree in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, or Physics: A solid technical foundation.

Desirable requirements:

• Understanding of NoSQL database technologies: Experience with databases like MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Firebase.

• Understanding of the Agile Manifesto and practices: Comfortable working in an iterative, fast-paced environment.

• Understanding of microservices and cloud infrastructure: Knowledge of scalable, distributed systems.

• Python – Proficiency in writing clean, efficient Python code.

• Experience within a startup environment: Adaptable, hands-on, and ready to take ownership.
